Lock

A 'Lock' in a dream represents a need for inner security or the act of shutting things out. A lock is a mechanism that prevents access -- it keeps things in or keeps things out. In the Universal Language of the Mind, a lock reflects a mental mechanism you have created for protection. This can be productive or unproductive. A lock that protects something valuable -- like your inner peace, your self-worth, or your spiritual practice -- is serving a healthy purpose. But a lock that shuts out new experiences, new perspectives, or new growth opportunities is keeping you imprisoned in your current state of mind. Pay attention to what is being locked. Is it a door, preventing access to a new state of mind? Is it a treasure chest, protecting something valuable? Are you locking something, or are you locked out? When a lock shows up in your dream, examine what you are protecting and what you are shutting out. Is the lock serving you, or is it limiting you? Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is unlock the door and let something new in.
