Opponent

An 'Opponent' in a dream represents an aspect of yourself that creates discord and conflict within you. Since every person in a dream represents a part of your own consciousness, an opponent is the part of you that stands in opposition to what you are trying to accomplish. It is the inner voice that argues against your progress, the self-doubt that challenges your confidence, the resistance that pushes back when you try to move forward.

An opponent is not necessarily negative in the long run. In sports, the opponent forces you to play at your highest level. In the same way, the opposing aspect within yourself can push you to be stronger, sharper, and more determined -- if you know how to use it. When an opponent shows up in your dream, identify the inner resistance. What part of you is fighting against what you are trying to create? Is it fear? Self-doubt? Comfort? Laziness? Name it. Then use it as fuel. Let the opposition sharpen you rather than defeat you. Every great champion needs a worthy opponent to bring out their best.
