In the Language of Mind a valley is the low, level ground between the heights — and since a place in a dream is always a state of mind, the valley is the settled, resting state of consciousness that sits between your challenges. Look at its form and function: a valley is land that lies low between hills and mountains, and in this language hills and mountains are the challenges you climb. So the valley is what comes after the descent and before the next ascent — a stretch of calm, fertile, level ground where the striving stops and the mind can rest, gather, and grow. Examine where in your waking life you have come down out of a hard climb into a quieter season: not a failure, but a pause the inner Self gave you to integrate what the last challenge taught. Read the variations the way you'd read the land itself — a green, watered valley = a restful state rich with conscious experience you can finally absorb; a dry or shadowed valley = a low season where awareness has dimmed and you feel hemmed in by the heights around you, waiting for the light to return. Notice too what rises on either side: the mountain you just left and the one still ahead are both speaking. That is one symbol read clean. The river running through it, the road leaving it, the figure walking beside you — your subconscious is still talking, every night, in this exact language.
