Holding the self back/personal limitations
A 'Cage' in a dream represents the personal limitations you have placed upon yourself. A cage is designed to contain and restrict movement -- to hold something within a confined space. In the Universal Language of the Mind, a cage reflects the thoughts, beliefs, and fears that are confining you and preventing you from fully expressing yourself and reaching your potential. The important thing to understand is that in your dream, the cage is a creation of your own mind. The limitations it represents are not imposed from the outside -- they are self-imposed. These are the personal limiting beliefs that say "I can't," "I'm not good enough," "I don't deserve it," or "It's too late for me." These thoughts become the bars of the cage that keep you confined. Pay attention to whether you are inside the cage or outside looking in. Are you the one caged, or is an animal or another person caged? If an animal is caged, it represents a habitual thought that has been contained and restricted. If you are in the cage, it directly reflects how you are limiting yourself. Is the cage locked or unlocked? An unlocked cage suggests that the limitations you perceive are not as real as you believe -- you have the power to walk out at any time.
When a cage shows up in your dream, it is an urgent call to examine the personal limiting beliefs that are holding you back. What are you telling yourself that is keeping you confined? Challenge those beliefs. Create new experiences for yourself that prove them wrong. Your thoughts create your reality -- if you change the thoughts, the cage dissolves.
