In the Language of Mind, a design is the creative imagination at work — thought deliberately arranged into a plan before it ever takes physical form. Look at its form and function: a design is a pattern laid out in advance, and what a pattern does is organize raw material into a chosen, intentional shape. Your imagination does exactly this — it takes the formless mind-stuff and arranges it into the blueprint of what you are about to build. So when you dream of designing, your subconscious is showing you that you are consciously shaping a thought, drafting the seed before you plant it. Examine where in your waking life you are deliberately composing something new — a direction, a self, a creation — rather than living by default.

Read the variations closely. A clear, finished design = a desire you have imagined into precise form, ready to manifest; a messy, unfinished, or erased design = imagination still wandering, a vision not yet committed to. Designing something beautiful is your creative power used consciously and well; struggling to design at all asks whether you are letting old patterns draw your life for you. That is one symbol, read clean. The hands that drew it, the room you drew it in, the thing being designed — each is still speaking.
