Gift

In the Language of Mind, a gift is value. Look at its form and function: a gift is something given that carries worth, a transfer of value from one source to another. So when a gift appears in your dream, your subconscious is showing you value being exchanged inside your own consciousness, offered to you by one aspect of yourself, or invested by you into another. Every figure in the dream is you; the gift is worth moving between them. Examine where in your waking life value is being handed to you right now, and whether you are recognizing it or letting it sit untouched. Read the variations precisely. Who gives and who receives tells the direction of the exchange: receiving means an aspect of you is offering something worthwhile, accept it and use it; giving means you are recognizing the worth of another part of yourself and investing in it. A wrapped gift is value not yet revealed; an opened one is worth already recognized; a gift refused is you refusing your own value. And notice what the gift actually is, because the object names the kind of worth: food given is the value of knowledge, money the value of self-worth, clothing the value of authentic expression, tools the value of your mental capability.
