Grave

In the Language of Mind, a grave is where an old self is laid to rest. Look at its form and function: a grave is the place a dead thing is buried and left behind, and in a dream death is never literal — it is inner transformation, an old way of being ending so a new one can be born. So a grave marks the exact spot where a former version of you, a belief or identity you have outgrown, was put down. Your subconscious is showing you a state of mind reflecting on who you used to be. Examine where in your waking life you are standing at the edge of something you have already moved beyond — and whether you have truly let it rest, or keep returning to mourn it. Read the variations the way you would read a headstone. Standing over a fresh grave = a recent ending you are still grieving or processing; an old, grassed-over grave = a self you buried long ago, now only memory; digging one up = resurrecting a belief or habit you were meant to leave behind. And notice the ground itself — earth in this language is subconscious mind-substance, the soil where every seed-thought is planted, so what is buried is never gone, only composting into what grows next. That is one symbol, read clean. The cemetery it sat in, the figure beside you, the road that led there — all still speaking.
