reach

In the Language of Mind, reaching is the act of striving toward a goal. Look at its form and function: to reach is to extend yourself, to stretch the body toward something that sits just beyond your current grasp. Function follows form — reaching closes the distance between where you are and what you want. So when you dream of reaching, your subconscious is mirroring movement toward a goal in waking life, and motion toward a thing is always progress on the very thing you are pursuing. Examine where in your waking life you are stretching past your present limits — what are you straining to lay hold of, and how close is your hand?

Read the variations the way you read the distance. Reaching and grasping the object = you have closed the gap and made the goal your own; reaching and just missing, the thing forever an inch away = a goal you keep striving for without yet committing the full effort to seize it; reaching down to pull someone up = an aspect of self being lifted into your conscious awareness. And notice what your hand was reaching toward, for that object names the desire — its own symbol still waiting to be decoded, as does the place you stood and the figure beyond your fingertips. Your subconscious is communicating with you every night; you simply haven't learned the language yet. CHITTA is where you learn to read the rest of the sentence. Go within, or go without.
