In the Language of Mind, a sketch is the productive use of your creative imagination caught in its earliest, rough form — the first draft of something you are visualizing into being. Look at form and function: a sketch is the loose outline an artist lays down before the finished work exists; its function is to capture an idea quickly, in rough shape, before it is refined. So when you sketch in a dream, your subconscious is showing you a thought you are just beginning to imagine — a creation still in its blueprint stage, not yet fully formed. Remember, your thoughts are images, and imagination is how you draw them; a sketch is calling you to notice what you are currently picturing into your life and how deliberately you are using that power of visualization. Examine where in your waking life you are roughing out a new direction, an idea, a version of yourself not yet finished. Read the variations: a confident, flowing sketch = an idea taking clear shape through focused imagination; a faint, smudged, or erased sketch = a creation you keep starting and abandoning, your visualization still scattered. That is one symbol, read clean. The hand that drew it, the paper it sat on, the scene the sketch depicted — each is still speaking.
