End of the World

In the Language of Mind, the end of the world is not catastrophe or prophecy — it is the death of an entire paradigm, a total inner transformation. Look at form and function: a "world" is the whole structure of reality you live inside; its ending is a complete collapse of that structure. And in this language death is never literal — death is change, an old form ending so a new one can be born. So when your dream ends the world, your subconscious is showing you that an entire way of seeing, an entire identity, is dissolving so a wholly new one can take its place. Examine where in your waking life the ground you built your sense of reality on is cracking — a belief system, a role, an old self — and feel that it is being cleared, not destroyed.

Read the variations closely. A world ending in fire is purification — the old burning down to a finer form, expansion through release; a world swallowed by water is being overwhelmed by conscious experience pouring in faster than you can absorb it. Standing as the lone survivor is the part of you that lives through the change and walks into the next world. That is one symbol decoded.
