Dream Symbol · Universal Language of the Mind
Breaking down the will (when consumed) or an unproductive thought (when growing)
In the Universal Language of the Mind, as decoded by CHITTA, Marijuana in a dream represents Breaking down the will (when consumed) or an unproductive thought (when growing). That meaning is the same for every dreamer — but what Marijuana is SAYING is not: the message is composed by where Marijuana appears in your dream and what happens to it.
Marijuana in a dream carries two distinct meanings in the Universal Language of Mind, and which one applies is decided entirely by its FORM and FUNCTION in the dream.
WHEN CONSUMED — smoked, drunk, or eaten (for example, a "liquid marijuana drink") — marijuana represents the BREAKING DOWN OF THE WILL. It is the image of making a conscious choice and then going against it: surrendering self-control, dulling the resolve that would otherwise carry a decision through to completion. The dream is showing you a place where you are choosing to undermine your own willpower rather than exercise it.
WHEN GROWING — a plant taking root in the dream landscape, springing up uninvited or being cultivated — marijuana represents a NEGATIVE, UNPRODUCTIVE THOUGHT taking root in the subconscious mind. Plants are subconscious thoughts; this one is a thought that produces nothing of value and, left unattended, spreads. The dream is pointing to an unproductive pattern of thinking that has settled below conscious awareness.
So: marijuana you take INTO yourself = breaking down the will. Marijuana you watch GROW = an unproductive thought taking root. Read the form and function before assigning the meaning.
