Being committed to the Self
A 'Spouse' in a dream represents being committed to the Self. Marriage is the formal union and commitment between two people to work together as partners through life. In the Universal
Language of the Mind, males represent the conscious mind and females represent the subconscious mind. A spouse, then, represents the committed partnership between your conscious and subconscious minds -- the two halves of your being working together as one. This is the most important relationship in your entire existence. The conscious mind creates the experiences. The subconscious mind stores the wisdom. The conscious mind plants the seed thoughts. The subconscious mind manifests them into reality. The conscious mind reaches outward. The subconscious mind receives inward. When these two are working in committed partnership -- when what you intend consciously is fully received and supported subconsciously -- you become an unstoppable creative force. But when the partnership breaks down, everything suffers. When your conscious intentions conflict with your subconscious beliefs, manifestation stalls. When you say one thing but believe another deep down, the inner marriage is in trouble. When you neglect your inner life while pouring all of your energy into the outer world, your spouse -- your subconscious mind -- feels abandoned. Pay attention to who the spouse is and what is happening between you. Is the relationship loving and supportive, reflecting a healthy, harmonious partnership between your conscious and subconscious minds? Is there conflict, indicating that your inner and outer selves are at odds? Is the spouse absent, suggesting that you have neglected your relationship with your inner self? Is the spouse someone other than your actual partner, reflecting a different quality of subconscious partnership than you currently have? When a spouse shows up in your dream, it is reflecting the quality of the most important commitment you will ever make -- the commitment to yourself. Are you honoring this inner marriage? Are your conscious intentions and subconscious beliefs aligned? Or has the partnership become strained through neglect, dishonesty, or misalignment? Recommit to yourself daily through your spiritual practices. Nurture the inner marriage. When your conscious and subconscious minds operate as devoted partners, there is nothing you cannot create.
