Family

In the Language of Mind, your family is not the people you live with — it is the cluster of qualities within you that you know best. Look at the form and function: a family is the group you are most familiar with, the faces you'd recognize anywhere; so in the language of mind they mirror the aspects of yourself you are most familiar and most at ease with — the very traits you'd name if someone asked you to describe your own personality. When family fills a dream, your subconscious is working with the parts of you that are already known, already integrated, the home-ground of who you are. So examine where in your waking life these well-worn qualities are showing up, and what they're doing in the scene — because their actions show you how a familiar part of you is operating right now. Read the variations closely: a male family member is that familiar quality held in the conscious, aggressive, outwardly-chosen mind, while a female family member is the same kind of quality arising as natural, intuitive, subconscious tendency — and any parent or grandparent steps past mere familiarity into the superconscious, the inner teacher. Strangers in that same house would be the opposite: aspects of you not yet known. That is one symbol read clean — but the home it gathered in, the table it sat around, the figure who arrived late are all still speaking.
