Halloween

In the Language of Mind, Halloween is not a holiday — it is a STATE OF MIND built around two acts: wearing masks and meeting what frightens you. Look at its form and function. The mask covers the face, and the face is your identity; to put one on is to present a self that isn't truly you. And the night itself is when the feared, hidden aspects — ghosts, monsters, the dead — are allowed to walk in plain sight. So when your subconscious stages Halloween, it is showing you a season where you are both costumed (living behind borrowed identities) and finally face to face with the parts of yourself you usually avoid. Examine where in your waking life you are performing a version of yourself instead of standing as who you actually are. Read the variations: a costume you can't remove = an identity you've worn so long it feels stuck; a frightening figure you turn and face = an unproductive aspect of self losing its power the moment you stop running from it; a ghost = your dawning awareness that you exist beyond the physical body. That is one symbol, read clean — but the house you walked through, the dark street, the figure beneath the mask are each still speaking.
