Haunted House

In the Language of Mind a haunted house is a fear-based condition of your own mind. Read its form and function: a house is a structure that contains and shelters whatever lives inside it, the way your mind contains and shelters your sense of self, so its state is always the state of your awareness. Now add what makes it haunted — it is occupied by the dead, by old presences you can feel but will not turn and look at. In the language of mind that is an aspect of you that you keep refusing to face: an outgrown way of being, a guilt or belief you never let die into transformation, still wandering the rooms it used to own. So examine where in your waking life you tiptoe through your own house, sensing something in the next room and choosing not to enter. The fear is never the ghost — it is your unwillingness to be honest about a part of yourself. Read the variations cleanly: a haunting in the basement is something unconscious, below your knowing; one in the attic touches the superconscious, a higher truth you're avoiding; and the figure that chases or hides from you is always you, losing its power the instant you stop running and turn to face it. That is one room of the dream read clear. The house itself, the floor it stood on, the door you would not open — each is still speaking.
