In the Language of Mind, a sleeve is expression — specifically, the expression wrapped around your capacity to act. Look at its form and function: clothing is what you choose to put on so others can see you a certain way, so in the language of mind it always mirrors expression, the image you project outward. A sleeve is the part of that garment that covers the arm — and arms are how you reach, hold, and do. So a sleeve is the way you dress up, conceal, or present what you are actually able to do in the world. When one appears, examine where in your waking life your outward presentation is shaping how openly you act: are you "rolling up your sleeves" to engage, or keeping your real capability covered?

Read the variations the way you'd read any clothing. A clean, well-fitting sleeve = expression that authentically suits the work in front of you; torn, stained, or too-tight sleeves = an expression that has gotten soiled or no longer fits what you're trying to do; an empty or hidden sleeve = capability you're keeping out of sight, something "up your sleeve" you haven't let yourself express. That is one symbol, read clean. The arm inside it, the rest of the garment, the figure wearing it — each is still speaking, another aspect of you waiting to be decoded.
